Protesters Burn A Government’s Car

Tuesday evening, the protesters burn a government’s car which passing through the Sudirman Street in front of the Atmajaya University. According to Elshinta radio reporter, the protesters stopped the car then forced the driver to leave the car and set it on fire, causing panic among people watching the protest.

Unfortunately, according to an Atma Jaya University spokeswoman, the incidents was not by Atma Jaya students. It did by some non Atma Jaya student which attend the protest for the death of Maftuh Fauzi investigation and for fuel price hikes rejection.

Unas Student Dies After Protest

unas student dies after protestNational University [UNAS] student named Maftuh Fauzi died on Friday after detained by the police for around 13 days, then treated at two different hospitals in Jakarta.Maftuh Fauzi was among 31 students arrested at dawn on May 24 and detained for nearly two weeks in South Jakarta police.

The arrest followed a protest against rising fuel prices by hundreds of students at their campus in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. The protest was laid when the two students and police threw stones at each other. Read the rest of this entry »

RI asks Horta to clarify remarks

Indonesian diplomats in Dili have been asked to seek clarity over reports on Timor Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta’s allegation that “elements” from Indonesia were involved in a February attack that almost claimed his life.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Kristiarto Soeryo Legowo said Thursday he had read the statement from the media, but quickly added that Indonesia could not react based only on the news.

“That’s why we are now checking the report to ascertain the report’s validity. I can’t comment based only on a news report,” he told. Read the rest of this entry »
